Pick one photo, and Threadly draws it using nothing but straight threads stretched between pins around a circle. Up close it is thousands of lines; from a distance a face, a pet or an object appears.

From photo to string art

Pinch and drag to choose exactly what goes inside the circle. The background is removed automatically so the threads focus on the subject. Watch the threads being strung one by one at 1x, 2x, 5x or 10x, save the finished artwork as a 2048 x 2048 image, and compare it side by side with the original photo.

Build the real thing

Threadly guides you through every thread, one step at a time ("119 -> 18"). Pins are numbered clockwise with pin 1 at the top. Save a numbered pin template to print, and see the full sequence as a list or copy it as text. With a board, pins and thread, just follow the screen.

Make it yours

Choose 120, 180, 240 or 300 pins; 1,000 to 5,000 threads, or Auto, which stops when more threads stop helping; and Fast, Normal or Fine quality.

Tip

For portraits, make the face fill about 60-80% of the circle for the clearest eyes and features.
