Home Sweet Phone Terms of Use

Last updated: 4 October 2026

Provider: tomople (https://tomople.com, "we" or "us")

These terms set out the conditions for using our smartphone app "Home Sweet Phone" (らくアプリ). By installing or using the app, you agree to these terms.

The app is designed to be set up by a family member who often lives far away, and used every day by the person themselves, who is usually an older adult. These terms apply to both of them.

1. What the app does

Home Sweet Phone is a launcher. It replaces the home screen with large buttons and gathers the entry points to phone calls, contacts, reminders, notes and a magnifier in one place.

  • On Android it can be set as the device’s default home screen.
  • On iPhone and iPad the operating system does not allow the home screen itself to be replaced, so the app runs as an ordinary app.
  • The app does not block nuisance calls and does not relay calls or notifications on behalf of other apps.

2. Everything the user needs is free

The home buttons, phone, contacts, speed dial, reminders, notes, magnifier, entertainment, read-aloud, text size, settings lock, remote setup, emergency contact, full backup, bulk reminders, bulk family photos, and the basics of the "How they are doing" check-in (when the phone was last used and how often today; alerts for a day with no use, the emergency button and updates that stop arriving; one family member watching) are all free of charge. There is no time limit, and none of them will ever stop working or be taken away because no payment has been made.

3. Seeing more in "How they are doing" (one-time purchase)

A feature that lets the family see more in the "How they are doing" check-in is sold as a one-time purchase.

It is a one-time purchase. Once you have paid, there is nothing more to pay. It is not a monthly or yearly auto-renewing subscription.

  • Payment is taken by the App Store (Apple) or Google Play (Google). We never receive your card number or other payment details.
  • What is included: medicine checks (how many of the day’s due reminders were ticked), the 7-day and 30-day record, and more than one family member watching. The contents may change as the app is improved.
  • Without paying, or if anything lapses, nothing changes on the user’s phone. Alerts for a day with no use, the emergency button and updates that stop arriving never stop.
  • With the same Apple ID or Google account you can restore the purchase free of charge on a new device from "Restore purchases" inside the app.
  • If you subscribed to the old "remove ads" plan in an earlier version, or bought the earlier "Family Pack", you can use it at no additional cost.

"How they are doing" is not a security or emergency service. Depending on the network, the device and OS settings, alerts may be late or may not arrive. We will not come to help if something is wrong. In an emergency, call the emergency services.

Refunds

Payment is collected by Apple or Google, and whether a refund is granted is decided by Apple or Google under their own terms. We cannot issue refunds directly. Please contact them here:

  • iPhone / iPad: Apple’s "Report a Problem" (reportaproblem.apple.com)
  • Android: "Request a refund" in Google Play Help

If you still hold the old auto-renewing plan

The old "remove ads" auto-renewing plan is no longer offered. If you are still subscribed, it will keep renewing until you cancel it. Cancelling is done in the device settings, not in the app (iPhone: Settings > your name > Subscriptions; Android: Subscriptions in Google Play).

Deleting the app does not cancel an auto-renewing subscription.

4. There are no ads

The app shows no advertising. It never asks for tracking permission for advertising purposes. We do not track users for advertising and we do not sell personal information to third parties.

5. How data is handled

The privacy policy written specifically for Home Sweet Phone has the full details. The key points are below.

Home Sweet Phone Privacy Policy

Stays on the device only

Home buttons, family photos, reminders, notes, the emergency contact, settings and the 4-digit lock code are stored only on your device. They are never sent to our servers.

The file produced by "full backup", and the RAKU1- code used for remote setup, are also created on the device. Where you send them (e-mail, LINE, AirDrop and so on) is your choice, and we are not responsible for how the destination handles them.

Leaves the device

  • Weather: weather is off by default. Only when you turn it on do we send an approximate location to Open-Meteo (open-meteo.com). Coordinates are rounded to two decimal places (roughly 1 km) before they are sent; nothing more precise is sent. No name, phone number or device identifier is sent. If you choose a place by town name, that town name is sent to the Open-Meteo geocoding search.
  • Adding buttons: to fetch app icons, we query Apple’s itunes.apple.com for a fixed, predetermined list of apps. We do not send what is installed on your device.
  • Crash reports and usage: crash records and a coarse record of which screens were opened are sent to Google Firebase (Crashlytics / Analytics). These records carry an identifier for the device or installation that is not linked to your name. They never include names, phone numbers, e-mail addresses, note text, photos or location.
  • Payments: we communicate with RevenueCat and Apple / Google to complete and restore purchases. We do not pass your name or e-mail address to RevenueCat.
  • Emergency contact: pressing the emergency button prepares a draft message containing a map link to your current location. You decide whether to send it. We never receive that location.
  • "How they are doing" check-in: only when it is turned on on the user’s phone, the times the app was opened, how often, the number of "Taken ✓" taps, battery level, that the emergency button was pressed and similar are kept on a server we contract (Supabase), readable only by the family phones joined to it. Location, who was called, notes, photos and medicine names are never sent. Daily records are deleted after 31 days.

Read on the device

  • Contacts: with your permission, the device address book is read so that a family member can be placed on a button. What is read never leaves the device.
  • Photos and camera: used with your permission to choose a button image or a face photo, and for the magnifier. Images and photos never leave the device.
  • Notifications: permission is requested so that reminders can be shown.

6. An important note about reminders

Reminders are an aid for remembering medicine and appointments.

  • Whether a reminder actually sounds depends on whether the operating system (iOS / Android) delivers the notification. Reminders may be delayed or may not arrive at all if the device is switched off, in airplane mode, has notifications turned off, is in a battery-saving state, or if the operating system changes how notifications work.
  • The same applies to the emergency contact feature. Depending on signal, device state and location accuracy, it may fail to send, or may send an inaccurate location. It is not a substitute for calling the emergency services.

This app is not a medical device. Do not rely on its reminders for managing medication, monitoring a medical condition, or anything affecting life or physical safety. If missing a dose could affect health, always use another method alongside it (a reminder from family, a pill organiser, or instructions from a medical professional).

7. What you must not do

Please do not:

  • use the app for any unlawful purpose;
  • analyse, modify, decompile or reverse-engineer the app (except where the law allows it);
  • copy, lend, redistribute or sell the app;
  • interfere with how the app works, or do anything that harms other users or us.

8. When you stop using the app

You can delete the app at any time. The screen "When you stop using this app" inside the app explains how to switch back and what is kept or lost.

  • On Android, if you set it as the default home screen, switch back to the original home screen in the device settings before deleting it.
  • Deleting the app deletes the buttons, face photos, reminders and notes stored on the device. We recommend creating a "full backup" first.
  • Deleting the app does not lose a purchase you have already made. Reinstall with the same account and press "Restore purchases".
  • Deleting the app does not cancel the old auto-renewing plan (see section 3).

9. Warranty and liability

  • The app is provided as is. We do not warrant that it will always work correctly, that it will be uninterrupted, or that it is fit for any particular purpose.
  • We are not liable for damage arising from use of the app except where we have acted with intent or gross negligence. Where we are liable, our liability is limited to the amount you have paid us directly in connection with the app.
  • Where the Japanese Consumer Contract Act or other law does not permit such a limitation, the law prevails.

10. Terms required by Apple and Google

If you obtained the app from the App Store, Apple requires us to confirm the following. (On Android, the Google Play terms apply in addition.)

  1. These terms are an agreement between you and us, not with Apple. We, not Apple, are responsible for the app and its content.
  2. You have a non-transferable licence to use the app on Apple-branded products, within the usage rules set out in the App Store Terms of Service.
  3. We, not Apple, are responsible for maintenance and support. Apple has no obligation whatsoever to provide maintenance or support.
  4. If the app fails to conform to any warranty, you may notify Apple and Apple may refund the purchase price. Beyond that, Apple has no warranty obligation whatsoever with respect to the app.
  5. We, not Apple, are responsible for addressing enquiries about the app and third-party claims (including product liability, legal compliance, consumer protection, and claims of intellectual property infringement).
  6. You represent that you are not located in a country subject to a US government embargo and that you are not on any US government list of prohibited or restricted parties.
  7. Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these terms and, upon your acceptance, have the right to enforce these terms against you.
  8. Contact details are in section 13.

11. Changes to these terms

We may change these terms in line with changes in the law or improvements to the app. Significant changes will be announced in the app or on this page. Continuing to use the app after a change means you accept it.

12. Governing law and jurisdiction

These terms are governed by and construed in accordance with Japanese law. Jurisdiction follows the applicable law. (No exclusive agreed jurisdiction is specified, because under the Japanese Consumer Contract Act a jurisdiction clause unfavourable to consumers has limited effect.)
